Marubeni Citizen-Cincom Lathe Enables Continuous Operation
PMTS 2025: The BNA-42SY5 lathe features an integrated auto-compensation system to automatically adjust tooling based on measurements taken at the inspection station.
Marubeni Citizen-Cincom Inc. showcases the BNA-42SY5 lathe, which was designed with automation in mind. There is mounting built into the machine casting for robot integration on top of the machine. The BNA-42SY5 also includes a 12-station turret with a Y-axis.
The advanced part tray stacker enables the robot to operate in a lights-out environment, efficiently managing up to four trays. The system automatically changes trays when one is full, enabling up to three additional trays to be swapped in without manual intervention. This setup enables continuous operation and reduces the need for operator supervision, the company says.
Additionally, the robot is equipped with capabilities to clean and measure each part before placing it in a tray. If a part fails inspection, it is automatically diverted to a reject bin, allowing only quality parts to proceed through the system. For added flexibility, a sample bin is available, enabling users to request specific parts for manual inspection.
A key feature of the system is the integrated auto-compensation system. This system automatically adjusts tooling based on measurements taken at the inspection station. By continuously monitoring and compensating for tool wear or deviation. The auto-comp system verifies that each part meets precise tolerances, reducing downtime and maintaining consistent production quality.
