Five-Axis Machining Center Performs Cutting Operations in a Single Setup
PMTS 2023: Haas’ UMC-350HD is a compact five-axis universal machining center Capable of performing 3+2 and five-axis machining simultaneously.
The Haas UMC-350HD is a compact, five-axis universal machining center equipped with a five-axis trunnion table that enables 3+2 and simultaneous five-axis machining, providing a range of cutting operations on complex, prismatic parts in a single setup. This feature increases the efficiency and accuracy of the parts being machined, the company says.
The UMC-350HD features a 40-taper, inline 15-hp, direct-drive spindle with a maximum speed of up to 10,000 rpm as standard. The platter is 9.10" (230 mm) in diameter and can hold workpieces up to 200 lbs (91 kg) with 14.5" (368 mm) of swing. Travels for the five-axis machining center are 15" in X, 14" in Y and 12" in Z. The B-axis tilts 120 degrees to -120 degrees while the C-axis rotation is a full 360 degrees. The UMC-350HD is also equipped with an 18+1 tool, side mounted toolchanger.
This versatile, compact, five-axis machining center is said to be good for a range of applications across a number of industries, including medical, aerospace, semiconductor and automotive manufacturing. It is also suitable for prototyping and low-volume production runs. Overall, the company says the Haas UMC-350HD 5-axis is designed to be a machine capable of increasing the efficiency and accuracy of the machining process.
