Ceratizit Milling Cutters Provide Pinpoint Micromachining Accuracy
PMTS 2025: AluLine – Micro milling cutters is designed for applications with small workpieces that require high-tolerance machining.
Ceratizit will showcase its AluLine – Micro milling cutters for precise, accurate cutting of miniature parts. AluLine – Micro is designed for applications with small workpieces that require high-tolerance machining. AluLine – Micro milling cutters feature a shrinkable 4-mm shank, cutting diameters from 0.2-3.0 mm, projection lengths from 3 × D to 15 × D, as well as a thin diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating.
AluLine – Micro milling cutters give high-precision machinists pinpoint accuracy with 3 µm at 0.2-mm diameter. The cutters’ 4-mm tool shank, compatible with shrink-fit toolholders, is said to provide optimal concentricity and the highest contour quality for small components. Ceratizit uses an ultra-fine grain substrate for the AluLine – Micro milling cutters, which is recommended for use in abrasive aluminum alloys.
To address the challenges of sticky chips and built-up edge formations associated with machining aluminum, AluLine – Micro milling cutters are designed with a specialized polishing grind for more homogeneous cutting edges that improve chip flow.
In addition, the DLC coating, combined with the tool’s geometry, makes it easier to remove sticky aluminum chips from the cutting zone. DLC coatings also increase the tool’s performance and extend tool life for effective machining of small, complex parts.
